Search giant Google recently launched its new software package that allows Internet users to see satellite images on their desktops. I tried the Google Earth and my mouth dropped when it was able to display almost all major cities in 3D images.

Google is still developing the Google Earth but you can already navigate its features with its free Beta version. I’ve tried searching using cities, addresses, zip codes and countries and I was surprised to see images zoomed in enough for me to see the buildings, establishments and streets. I was also able to rotate the 3D images to see the different areas of the place. With the use of my mouse and keyboard, I was able to display as much information like schools, hotels, boutiques and roads.

There is an option where you can save, print and e-mail the 3D search results. You can show it to your friends and families through these wonderful options. But there’s more! You’ll also be able to find directions and driving routes! Isn’t that cool?

Google Earth also comes in many versions. There is the free version that can be of personal use. There are also the paid versions where you‘ll be able to integrate the features with your GPS device. The paid version would also be helpful for businesses for their research and collaboration.

With Google Earth, you can bring the world to your desktop.
