U.S. Kids, Called to Doodle for Google
I am always amused every time I go to the Google homepage and see a Doodle. I admire the company for their inventive minds but am more curious who is the man behind those Doodles. And finally I met him, the skilled artist Dennis Hwang. Well…just in an amazing video, which is originally posted in Google’s Official Blog.
And now Google has given U.S. students in grades K-12 an opportunity to design a Doodle for their search engine logo, a Doodle that best explains the theme “What if…?”
From 400 State Finalists that will be chosen there will only be one national winner, and this best “What if…?” Google Doodle will be displayed on the homepage the whole day of 22 May 2008. He or she will also win “a $10,000 college scholarship to be used at the school of their choice, a trip to the Googleplex, a laptop computer, and a t-shirt printed with their doodle.” And a technology grant will be awarded to his or her school.
Interested students should check first if their school is registered for the said competition. Registration is only done by teachers or school officials, and is open until 28 March 2008. Also, entries must be postmarked by 12 April 2008. More information about the Doodle 4 Google Competition is available here.
