Don’t forget Google Analytics, or else!
Aside from writing here in GM, I have another site called Kreah Craze, which is a lyrics site for Korean Entertainment fans. Since it was its 1st blogniversary last April 7, I thought of making my own wordpress theme days before that, and installed it on the 7th.
So, I made my own Wordpress theme, and experimented with php codes, css, and html. However, I wasn’t satisfied with it. I was just a beginner anyways so I gave it up, and looked for Wordpress themes that were already available for free download.
At this time, I decided to put my blog in Maintenance mode using this plug-in, and test my site with several Wordpress themes. Out of the 5 themes I tried, I chose My Journal. I made several adjustments, added some Ads, and finally publicized my blog with a new theme. Yey!
For almost 3 days I thought everything was fine until Chris told me, “Hey, I think you forgot Analytics!”. Oh yeah, I did!
Google Analytics
Analytics is a free visitor tracker, like Sitemeter and Statcounter. However, Analytics is more organized, and records thousands of visits and pageviews.
You can also set up goals like checking the keywords that generate more AdSense clicks. Once you identify which keywords are they, you can start optimizing your blog for those keywords, or create new content with those keywords.
Another goal you can create is to check how many visitors have reached a website page that says they completed a purchase, a registration, or a download. For example you are tracking a shopping site, by setting up a goal you will be able to identify how many visitors go through all the process of purchasing a product, and also identify how many visitors abandon the process and on what pages. With this information, you can began examining your pages, and look for factors why visitors would or would not complete a purchase.
Kreah Craze Analytics
After Chris reminded me of the Analytics code, I immediately added the code on my footer file. And you can see on the screen shot below the result of forgetting to add the Analytics code in my blog. Now that I am planning to sell my blog, I am worried if that big drop will be a big deal to the prospective buyer. I’m sure it won’t right?
