Adding the Global Translator Plugin Makes the Difference

I have a friend who has been blogging on korean dramas for almost 6 months now, and she wants her blog to reach a wide range of readers–meaning, go international! She believes that her niche has many non-English speaking followers, or fans who doesn’t understand English, just waiting for her to reach them out.

So she thought that adding a translator widget would work. She tried the two most popular translator widgets on widgetbox: the Google Site Translator and Altavista Babelfish Site Translator. But she wasn’t satisfied since she noticed that these widgets look bulky in the sidebar.

So she installed the wordpress Global Translator plug-in. And this definitely work for her since the flags can be simply arranged in the header of her blog, and occupies less space. Not an eyesore.

At first, she set Babelfish as the translator of the Plug-in but she personally didn’t like it. So she set it to Google Translator. Surprisingly, a few days after setting the plug-in to Google Translator, she noticed that Google search engines in French, Mexican, Chinese, Arabian, etc… are now including her blog in the search results. Some keywords typed in by visitors are not in English, these were in their native language which is amazing. Traffic in her blog suddenly increases. Google translates her blog in different languages.

She claims though that she is unsure that this sudden increase of traffic from non-English search engines was caused by the Plug-in. Yet, it is still worth a try for us. I have installed the plug-in, and placed the code in my footer. After doing this, I had seen search results with non-english keywords in my statistics plug-in, a like the one from Google Russia. The title of my post, and even the post, were automatically translated to Russian.

Anyone having luck with any working translation plugins?
