9 Facts that Google Can Answer

One of Google’s search features that you might not be aware is that you can ask Google 9 facts—unless you already asked one of them.

The feature I am referring to is the Q&A search feature wherein you “Hit us with a fact-based question or query (like “population of Japan”) by typing it into the Google search box.” And you will see at the top of your search results page Google’s answer to your query together with the a link to their source.

By trying out different fact related keywords in the search box, I found 6 fact-based queries in addition to the 3 samples given by Google. Well these are actually phrases that you have to complete.

Google gave:

1. population of ____________

ex. population of Japan , population of Indonesia

2. birthplace of ____________

ex. birthplace of Bono, birthplace of Hitler

3. currency in ___________

ex. currency in Egypt, currency in Brazil

These are the phrases I found:

4. land size of __________

ex. land size of China, land size of Mexico

5. author of ___________

ex. author of Count of Monte Cristo, author of The Da Vinci Code

6. capital of ____________

ex. capital of Argentina, capital of Canada

7. GDP of ____________

ex. GDP of US, GDP of UK

8. time zone of ___________

ex. time zone of Hong Kong, time zone of Spain

9. calling code of ___________

ex. calling code of India, calling code of Peru

I am not sure if there are only 9, because as I said I just tried typing in different keywords that a searcher might use, so maybe there’s more.

This feature is helpful especially when you are writing an article—maybe you want to include the current population or the GDP of a country to support your opinion. With Google answering your straightforward question, you also have saved time since you don’t have to go to a webpage and find the fact yourself.
